Why Yoga Rocks!⚡️Celebrating International Yoga Day With Our Story

In honor of International Yoga Day, I want to share how yoga has transformed our lives. Despite facing health challenges, yoga has been our greatest gift in life.

Today, I invite you to embark on your own yoga journey and experience its incredible impact. Yoga is more than physical exercise; it's a way of life.

Embrace it with an open mind and heart and witness its life-changing potential.

Remember that yoga is personal, so listen to your body and find what works for you through consistent practice. If you're new, start with a beginner class at a yoga studio, when you feel comfortable later you can join an online community like I think it’s important to participate in a physical studio first with an instructor.

Studio classes offer guidance on alignment and introduce various poses and styles. Hatha yoga is a great starting point, focusing on poses and posture. This is where I started and continue deepening my Hatha yoga practice. I was introduced to an amazing studio in NYC while in college, Integral Yoga on 13th street. Every time I entered, I was transported by the incense and amazing staff to a magical place.

Once comfortable with your yoga practice explore other forms of yoga that resonate with you. Yoga is inclusive and accessible to all, regardless of body type or ability.

Dispel misconceptions about being thin or extremely flexible; they're untrue. Yoga connects mind, body, and soul, and it's a gift for everyone.

Down the road, once you establish a routine, you may want to consider mantra meditation. Mantras are powerful phrases for meditation. Create a calm space with incense and candles and experience the transformative practice. Chanting mantras after your yoga practice is an amazing complement to your practice. Choose self-affirmations that resonate with you. Mantras like A-HAM PRE-MA can help you feel calmer more focused, and tapped into your divine self, to believe in you. Feeling good can contribute to you giving back positive energy back to the world. Remember yoga is not a competition, we each experience our practices differently. The key again is to be consistent. On a final note, Yoga has touched each family member uniquely. My husband, despite his muscles and larger build, feels more limber, less stiff with his yoga practice. For my son, yoga calms his mind from school static.

For myself, now at 52, yoga brings alignment and overall well-being to my day. It has become an integral part of my life. If I don’t do it, it feels like I forgot to brush my teeth

We are not perfect yogis, but we're committed to consistency and grateful for yoga's beauty.

Step out! attend classes, embrace the experience, and let yoga transform you. Explore different studios, knowing that teachers are human too. Yoga is a gift for ALL to enjoy.
